New Path

Road

Everything looked good today at the RE. I am measuring right on target at 7 weeks and we measured a heartbeat of 132. I left with a bag full of fancy new prenatal vitamins and a much greater sense of confidence in this pregnancy. I have to say that the NP I have been seeing is wonderful and I really appreciate the extra time she takes to answer my questions. So, we look towards a due date of 6/24/09.

The morning sickness is still pretty bad. I am nauseous most of the day, except for about 30 minutes after I eat. I am going to take B6 to see if that helps. Has anyone out there tried that? Any other suggestions are very welcome.

In other news, North Carolina was wonderful. I have never been to that part of the country and was amazed at the beauty. We were in the Lake Lure area. Fall was in full swing and the cool temps were a welcome change.

We stayed at a place that was sort of a compound with several houses you could rent.
Our cabin was so cute and had a little fireplace. It also had a TV so that I could see my Red Raiders beat UT. ::awesomesauce::

Our Cabin

Teal was a beautiful bride!

First Dance

M worked really hard to take some wonderful photos. The river photos will be amazing and totally worth the trouble of getting out to the rocks.

Down by the River

It was really nice to get away. We missed Luke terribly, but he was fine with my parents. He was really clingy yesterday, as if he didn't notice we were gone until we got back. He was back to his normal self today, though. It feels good to be together again.

I will post the u/s picture as soon as I scan it and I'll do the meme that A Bad Mommy tagged me to do.

Those photos are GORGEOUS. What a beautiful getaway. I am a sucker for weddings.
Did you have much m/s with Luke? I am a big proponent of bad morning sickness = girl. It just seems to be a theory that has proven true over and over.
I wasn't ever able to kick my morning sickness, but the B vitamins have worked for several others!
Congrats on everything going so well!

Hmm...morning sickness remedies. I used to chew mint gum and lay down when I could (a lot easier said than done with a 13 month old). I've heard Benedryl helps, but I didn't find it to work. You'll have to let me know if the B6 works. I've heard good things about it.

I am still completely amazed by all of this, and so thrilled to hear that your new path is becoming more solid, thanks to a great appointment.

My morning sickness was pretty bad with Baby (significantly worse than all other pregnancies combined). What one of the midwifes suggested is that you try to eat something every 10 minutes. Something small, that can fit on the palm of your hand--like five raisins, or a couple of nuts, or two crackers, or three grapes, whatever. This is supposed to regulate your blood sugar levels. I can't say that it worked like magic for me. But it did work--especially after I really tried this for a couple of days. Another trick that she told me--and this one DID work wonders since I felt absolutely awful in the mornings--was to have about 1/2 cup of ice-cold coke and a few saltines the first thing in the morning. Coke has enough sugar and caffeine to stabilize your blood sugar immediately when you wake up. And although I am not a big soda drinker, I did give this a try--and it really, really helped.

Hang in there, I hope it gets better soon.

Beautiful photos. I had a friend from Colorado at a wedding this weekend in that part of NC.

I did do the B6, but if I recall I had to combine it with Unisom and it was prescribed by my doctor.

Wow, those pictures are beautiful.

My morning sickness never really left either, but eating helped. Especially carbohydrates. I was a big fan of hashbrowns, toast and tea.

Rest is so important too, especially when you're chasing after a little one. Congratulations!

Congratulations on a great first appointment! I hope that pesky morning sickness takes a hike very soon.

We practically just crossed paths in NC - we were there a couple of weeks ago, taking our first family vacation (haven't posted any pictures yet). Did you love the 'fall look' as much as I did? Surely don't see that around these parts.

*We watched the game too - not so happy about the outcome. :(

YAY!!! I'm so glad things are going well - aside from the m/s. Be sure to eat small, frequent meals. Anything that sounds good at this point! XOXO

I'm so sorry I'm slow in leaving you love - SO SO SO happy to hear your appointment went well and critter's heart is ticking away.

As for morning sickness, I obviously have nothing to add except I have to disprove Mel's theory. A friend had a boy baby three weeks ago and she had morning sickness so bad she was medicated and almost hospitalized.

I'm thinking Luke's getting a baby brother with a 132 heartrate. :)

Sending much love and hoping you're feeling okay.

OMG, Kate. That's awesome. I'm about a week late reading all your news. That's so exciting! Congratulations. Sorry about the morning sickness, but they say that's always a good sign...? I guess your family doesn't frequent the blog? Anyway, that's great news.

Oh my word, don't know how I missed this but congrats on your pregnancy!! Wonderful news sweetie!!

WHEW! Glad it went well. Wish I had advice on morning sickness but I, er, haven't ever had it. (Sorry.) But I did have two summer babies in the deep south, so I know what fun you're in for next spring and summer. Swollen ankles, here you come! Seriously, so, so excited for you and hopeful about this.

So I'm a bit behind but YAY!! I have been thinking and thinking and thinking about you - should have known to come here and check on you!
I hope you are feeling better - but as for the B6 - I did that in conjunction with Unisom - is that what you are doing? I didn't want to because I didn't want to take ANYTHING but my Ob swore by it and guess what - it was a lifesaver for me...it truly did work.
I am sooo very excited for you guys - I'm telling you - having them close in age is pure AWESOMESAUCE...(*almost always!)

Oh, how I miss those autumnal colours. They are vibrant here, but we don't see much red when the leaves change.

Lovely photos!

I was married in NC at a place very similar to the one you described, which intrigues me. Our wedding location was a compound of cabins too, but it was sold to a developer last year who leveled the whole place.

Would you mind leaving a comment on my blog with the name of the place you were? It would be nice to find a similar place to possibly spend future anniversaries.

Great wedding pics. I love me some good wedding photography. I wish you the best of luck with this pregnancy. I hope your sickness (I don't like the word morning as mine was night!) goes away quickly.
