It Is Well

2008 has seemed like a long year. I suppose it's because of the change that has entered my life and the realization that the change will continue in 2009. I don't know about you, but I feel exhausted from all of it. I am so grateful for the birth of Luke and for the new friends I have made, but I am also eager to start a new year.

Christmas was good. M's mom made it in from Chicago without being stuck in the mess of the winter storms and it was nice having two grandmothers there. My brother seems to be doing ok and he was really great with Luke. He even tried to start guitar lessons.

In baby news, the NT scan went well. Everything looks good, although the baby was moving around a lot and we had to wait a little bit for the measurements. They gave us a preliminary guess about the gender, but we'll have to wait until January 22nd to know for sure. I was just relieved that everything looked good.

Something sort of odd happened this morning. I haven't needed the Zofran lately (thank goodness) but when I got up I got sick right away. I drank some water and as I was making Luke's bottles for the day, I started feeling like I was going to pass out. I have never fainted in my life, so when everything started going dark around the edges I got really scared. I lay down on the couch and then had to get up and run to the bathroom where threw up the water I just sipped. I did take some meds and feel much better now. Has anything like that ever happened to you? I know that pregnant people sometimes faint, but usually it's from getting up to fast, isn't it? Could I have a blood sugar issue? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Other that that random occurrence, things are really good. I have an old hymn running through my head this morning - "It is Well With My Soul". I hope that everyone finds some peace in their souls in 2009.

I've had some faint/dizzy spells throughout my pregnancy. Best I've been able to correlate, it occurs if I get up too fast, take meds on an empty stomach or wait too long between meals/snacks. It has even happened in the car a few times, which is terrifying. My husband bought me these glucose tablets from CVS to carry around in my car and they seem to help!

Best wishes for you in 2009. You are leaving such a whirlwind year behind, I can only imagine what is in store for the next. ;)

*hugs*

I hope 2009 brings you so much luck and blessings!

I never really had any fainting spells during either pregnancy. I might give your doc a call and let them know. Could be a stomach virus more than anything else!

Keep us posted and can't wait to hear on Jan 22nd!

Lots of wonderful wishes for a beautiful New Year!!

If it just happened once, I'd chalk it up to low blood sugar or getting up too fast. It actually happens to me quite a bit but I can very much tell you I am NOT pregnant. ;)

Here's to 2009 topping 2008 and being the best year yet.

Now tell us that dang speculated gender of the baby nugget! :D

As Marissa said, if it was just once probably just blood sugar or something, but keep tabs on it. Hopefully it's nothing and all is good.

"It is well with my soul" is one of my favorite hymns.

Mmm, I love that hymn.
I'm glad you had a good Christmas; I hope the dizzy spell was a one-time thing!

THt is a great hymm to have stuck in your head. You must be doing pretty well regardless of the dizzy spill. I hope that gets better for you.

Here's to 2009

The light-headedness can happen b/c all the blood rushes to your stomach (to cause cramping & subsequent emptying) and not enough gets to your brain (according to my aunt the nurse). I've passed out before in this type of situation.

I think you have a rock star in the making there! He's adorable.

Overall (except for Peanut), 2008 was a pretty awful year for me and those in my life, so I'm very much looking forward to 2009 and hoping it brings peace to all- happy new year!

I love the pictures! Baby M is totally enthralled with anything musical. He plays on one Uncle's drums and the other Uncle's guitar. For Christmas the families went overboard with toy musical instruments and honestly he would prefer to play with the real things!

I agree with some of the others that the dizziness is probably from needing to eat and/or standing up too fast. However, if it keeps up after you've tried to do something to prevent it,then def. let the dr. know.

Glad to know the nt scan went well...and we will be finding out the gender around the same time:-)

I hope you find an answer to your dizzy thing! My first thought was blood sugars but it could be any number of things or just a mere coincidence.

Look at your budding musician! He is just so cute. I'm glad to hear that everyone made it together for the holiday, AND that the NT scan looked good. May all the changes that occur in 2009 simply result in a change in the amount of love your heart receives and the happiness you feel (infinitely more of course).

Happy New Year!

I found orange juice to help when I felt dizzy so I assumed it could be blood sugar issues. Keep something sweet nearby just incase! I'll throw in my gender guess now, I'm guessing girl. Guess time will tell. Happy new year.
